I loved today's post. It's hard to find solace in this very disturbing time. Your description of the goodness in the hearts of your grandchildren as well as the distress my older grandchildren are feeling from the election results gives me hope that the next generation will do a better job of preserving democracy and taking care of our world than we have done.

Thanks Joy!!

I've been thinking that one of our primary jobs over the next few years is to help make sure that people don't say: “Really?” -- “I never heard anything about that.”

The big problem is how do we get that done??

Sadly, my Toastmaster days are over. I gave up trying to carry Evergreen about a year ago. Struggled to keep membership and nobody wanted to make the effort to grow the club which is essential.

Damned if I know. Using my middle sister who moved to NC a few years ago as a sample of one... all their neighbors and friends are Fox viewers and now she's certain the cities are overrun with criminal migrants, and we're ruining our kids with "woke propaganda", turning them trans... etc. Try and show her facts and she puts her fingers in her ears. Literally. So depressing. The most dangerous lie concocted by the right is that you cannot trust the legitimate media--it's all fake news. Ditto science, government.

I hear you on the family thing. Sometimes they are less likely to listen than full on strangers. I was at my aunt's celebration of life in August. Someone (a very close family member) was going on about shootings in the Denver area - how it was all the fault of the gays. I just shook my head and walked away. You can't have an intelligent conversation with someone who believes crazy like that. :(

We are hoping Trump does not do all the things he has said he was. His appointment for Secretary Defense is pretty bad.

And he's just getting warmed up. Sex offender Matt Gaetz for AG? Putin fan Tulsi Gabbard for DNI? A clown show. Except dangerous.

Thanks Joy. I loved hearing about your grands and your adventures in the National Parks with them. I am very concerned about the next four years. The influence of Musk and the cabinet appointments all leave me concerned. Thank you for the breather, the joy of the outdoors and your words to all of us.

With three ego-maniacal billionaires duking it out for top dog (Trump, Musk, Ramaswami) maybe they'll kill each other first.

I am just hoping that he can not do all that he has promised and that by some miracle he does not get the House. I am afraid to turn on the news and hear what the latest news is.

Not so easy to find solace and comfort during these days after the election, but your words and photos help us focus on the beauty and goodness around us.

Seems like once someone chooses their news source, their bias becomes embedded. Wondering if I only listened to Fox News, might I have voted for tRump too?? From their perspective the Dems are going to ruin the country. Perish the thought, but...

I dunno. Don't recommend a Fox experiment. It will make you ill.
