Joy,

Paige and I are heading to France on Thursday to see the French family I spent the summer with in 1956! Now I know how to respond to any question about Trump. Merci. Leonard

Wow! How fun! Where are you headed? The parents must be long gone, so I assume you mean your peers. By all means find out what they think--I will write more about it. Safe travels.

They couldn't believe we'd elect such a horrible person! I look forward to having more conversations. We head to Turin Italy with the kids for a few days, then London and Paris

I'm one of those Americans who doesn't care what people think of me personally but DOES care what people abroad think of my country. It's a heavy lift sometimes. Thanks for sharing your moments with your fam!

Love seeing your musings! Bummer that history tends to repeat itself, but nice to see other countries are waking up to the hazards of the far right. Impeach Trump! Put the crooks on trial and then into a real jail! Free the people! One can only hope.

Thanks Suzanne. I could drown in outrage, so finding some humor and beauty is my essential survival tool. (Are you the Suzanne at RoseVilla? If so, I'd love to hear how it's going...you have my email.)

Trenchant comments and lovely scenes, thanks! I'm including yours among the several substacks I am recommending to our classmates who zoomed yesterday. I envy your time in France and hope you enjoy every minute!

I need to compile a rec list for my subscribers. There are soooo many great ones. I wish Substack offered some kind of package: ten subscriptions for $__ . They really want people to pay for subscriptions because that's their profit model, but $50 here and $50 there and $80 there can add up--and it's a lot to keep track of.
