I called my congressman, Ted Lieu today. Found out that he had a town hall meeting last week on You tube. I posted this on my FB page to remind people that by calling our congressmen they do WANT to hear from us. And that our interest might motivate THEM to organize to inform us. Never underestimate that a small deed can produce a mighty result.
Sorry to hear about your tummy trouble. Good column but I live in Newton, MA, where my Senators (Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey) and Representative (Jake Auchincloss) are sincere liberals who are speaking up everywhere about the evils of Trump and they don't need calls from me. I watch MSNBC all day and read Heather Cox Richardson and subscribe to The Contrarian with Jennifer Rubin. I am too old to go barnstorming across the USA. I really don't know what I can do to prevent our country from being destroyed by Trump and his minions.
1) I hear that people like us in totally blue areas need to stop thinking our calls to our reps don't matter, so we don't make them. They are swamped by MAGA calls and begin to believe there are more of them than us, or that we just don't care. So we need to call them too--thank and encourage them to keep going.
2) I look up zip codes and towns in red states and call THOSE reps too-- Hi, I'm your constituent from Tulsa, zip code 74110, and I'm asking you to____. Now that our phone numbers travel with us, our area codes no longer are that relevant. I do not feel in the least bit guilty for lying.
Sorry, I don’t agree that the legacy media is reliable. Just a small example our NPR station said the march in Seattle involved hundreds of protesters. It was well over a 1000 and counting. That is a small example The Washington Post just refused the ad they had secured for the outside wrapping of the paper calling for the firing of musk because Bezos told them to. Both the Wapo and the New York Times frequently minimize or distort or simply don’t cover stories that need to be told. I apologize if my writing is rambling. I have visual impairments that require me to dictate and I am challenged when I attempt to edit.

Two things:
