It’s a real test of our belief in our country to pull through. And our own moral values.

Exactly! I will follow the rules and send in taxes on time because I still want to believe this whole thing is going to hold together, and taxes are important. But it makes me SO mad, I don't even have words. Thank you for expressing it so well.

OMG, Joy. We went to the tax guy yesterday. I'm sitting here with the form and a check to the IRS and I'm having the HARDEST time making myself mail it. What would happen if I don't?? Why should I send money in for Musk to steal??? Since Trump doesn't want mail-in votes to be counted if they arrive after election day, do you think they'd throw out my check if it arrived after 4/15??????? And since I'm retired and my investments did well the last few years under Biden, I'm now paying on capital gains that I have LOST in the last 3 months!! AAARRRGH!!! 🤬

Please mail your payment not because of who they are but because of who you are! They would love nothing more than to tar and feather you for less.

That’s the right answer, because we are honest people who believe in fulfilling our commitments— AND it is not easy when they are breaking theirs.

I feel the same way you do. I never like parting with additional money, as we have since Trump's first tax "cut" took effect. The working class that did not own a home brought home some change from each check but nothing significant. I paid tens of thousands more because I have a limit as to what I can write off now. Honestly, it looks like we may get a bigger cut, but I would rather continue paying knowing my "neighbors," no matter how they voted, could still eat, get healthcare, and keep a roof over their heads. I don't want to pay a dime. I want to roll it all into Oregon so we can at least take care of our own.

It’s a moral bind. I read that experts at the IRS expect a 10% drop in income for the treasury….

Our country is being raped and pillaged with the blessing of Republican leaders and voters. It's fucking unreal.
