I'm kind of retarded with Apple stuff. I have a local folder on my NAS with all my music. Just play it from there by dragging the link to my iTunes folder. Sometimes I use another media player like VLC media player. It's not so much about having it on my phone when I'm out -- just listening around the house. I connect the phone by Bluetooth to my stereo and listen with the big speakers. So Much better.

Since I moved to a condo in Portland ten years ago, I don't do the music on big speakers. Our sound-proofing is good, but not that good.

Brings back memories. I always knew there was something I liked about you. Now I know you're a fellow geek!! Tech is what keeps me young -- always learning new things!!

I agree about tech keeping you young. Most people my age just throw up their hands in dismay at the slightest tech issue. I find it interesting. Except I just discovered that the reason I have so little music on my phone now is that when Apple tossed iTunes, the music library on my computer no longer syncs with it. The only way to do it now is to subscribe to Apple Music, which costs $10.99/month. To which I say, NOPE. Think I found a work-around, but haven’t yet tested it. I think Apple made a big mistake with this move.

It's all about the money. Over the years I've learned to keep as much of my stuff stored locally as possible. I use iTunes to listen to music, but I keep all the files stored on my side and not in their library online.

For sure. But if you want all the stuff in your local library to show up on your phone, you can't. I just found an app that does help with this: Offline Music. Seems to work really well, but you do have to upload the tracks you want to the phone. Then you can shuffle etc. $15 one time if you want to play with sound controls. Worth it.

Indeed. When I think of all that Vector could do with such little memory, I’m still amazed.
