Hi Joy! It's wonderful you are still putting yourself "out there." I wish I'd know about your storytelling event, I would have loved to be there. Carry on, what you do is touching and inspiring. I appreciate you and your writings.

Gee, Joy, your current experience sounds a lot like mine/ours! We recently moved to an independent living facility in Bellevue, WA, your neighbors to the north. We have 155 units in our building which is relatively new. I totally agree with your sentiment about community. We're learning to thrive in our new digs with lots of folks who, surprisingly, are a lot like us: Retired, successful, happy and (mostly) healthy. I'm sharing your post today within the community to provide another glimpse into senior living. Your words are much appreciated!

Mine is just a regular condo building— actually it was built in 1910 as a hardware warehouse and condoified in 2001, so it has an industrial feel. Most Senior Living facilities offer lots of community activities and spaces in which to connect. We don’t have that, which is the challenge in creating gatherings. Carry on!

Thanks for your recommendation, I checked out and picked up The Art of Gathering. Looking forward to how the ideas develop. And Great Job avoiding agent orange in practically your whole article! Yeah, we don’t need to dwell on downers all of the time! We shall overcome someday…

So inspiring1 YOU are so inspiring! That tree trunk looks like the pattern on a hand knit Irish sweater.

Thank you Joy. I always appreciate your posts, and they bring a smile to my face. It is so important right now to remember that there is beauty to be found and appreciated. For various reasons I won't bore you or take the time to mention I have failed to comment on several recent posts. However, I have even read a couple of them more than once. And love being reminded that beauty is out there to be found and enjoyed.
